ASKED QUESTIONS

The ForRangers campaign exists to support rangers lives. By working alongside our friends and partners, we can do more.
Find out more about how we work below.

What is ForRangers?

For Rangers is a fundraising initiative set up to support the lives of wildlife rangers in sub-Saharan Africa. In partnership with Save the Rhino International, ForRangers raises funds to improve training, purchase equipment, and support rangers’ wellbeing.

How does ForRangers raise money?

ForRangers primary method of fundraising is through taking on endurance challenge events, such as the For Rangers Ultra. ForRangers also receives donations through its partner company, For Rangers Travel and Adventure.

Where does my donation go?

Donations to ForRangers are directed through Save the Rhino International to projects selected by the ForRangers Grants Board. Since 2019, ForRangers has supported rangers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Uganda and Zambia.

How does ForRangers and For Rangers Travel and Adventure work together?

For Rangers Travel and Adventure is a travel company that was co-founded by Sam Taylor, one of the founders of ForRangers. Its aim is to support conservation and ranger welfare through wildlife focused travel. To achieve its aim, For Rangers Travel and Adventure will donate 40% of its net profits to the ForRangers initiative each year.

How does For Rangers Travel and Adventure work with Save the Rhino International?

For Rangers Travel and Adventure partnered with Save the Rhino International when it was established in 2021. This partnership ensures that 40% of the company’s net profit will be donated to ForRangers projects each year, via Save the Rhino International. All of the funds donated by For Rangers Travel and Adventure are directed to projects selected by the ForRangers Grants Board.

How much has ForRangers donated to ranger projects since it began?

Since ForRangers began in 2015, more than USD $2.5 million has been granted to projects that support rangers. This includes purchasing new equipment, improving recreational areas, paying salaries, and providing training.

Why is ForRangers partnered with Save the Rhino International?

ForRangers is a fundraising initiative (also referred to as a campaign), not a formal charity. This helps the initiative to remain financially lean, sending as much funding as possible to rangers. The founders of ForRangers, Sam Taylor and Pete Newland, have worked alongside Save the Rhino for many years. Save the Rhino supports ForRangers to send and receive grants, communicate with its audience, and also is a partner in the For Rangers Ultra.
