FREQUENTLY
ASKED QUESTIONS

The ForRangers campaign exists to support ranger's lives. By working alongside our friends and partners, we can do more.

What is ForRangers?

ForRangers is a fundraising initiative set up to support the lives of wildlife rangers in sub-Saharan Africa. In partnership with Save the Rhino International, ForRangers raises funds to improve training, purchase equipment, and support rangers’ wellbeing.

How does ForRangers raise money?

ForRangers primary method of fundraising is through taking on endurance challenge events, such as the ForRangers Ultra.

Where does my donation go?

Donations to ForRangers are directed through Save the Rhino International to projects selected by the ForRangers Grants Board. Since 2019, ForRangers has supported rangers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Uganda and Zambia.

How much has ForRangers donated to ranger projects since it began?

Since ForRangers began in 2015, more than USD $5 million has been granted to projects that support rangers. This includes purchasing new equipment, improving recreational areas, paying salaries, and providing training.

Why is ForRangers partnered with Save the Rhino International?

ForRangers is a fundraising initiative (also referred to as a campaign), not a formal charity. This helps the initiative to remain financially lean, sending as much funding as possible to rangers. The founders of ForRangers, Sam Taylor and Pete Newland, have worked alongside Save the Rhino for many years. Save the Rhino supports ForRangers to send and receive grants, communicate with its audience, and also is a partner in the ForRangers Ultra.

What is the ForRangers Ultra?

The ForRangers Ultra is a 230km self-sufficient ultra marathon through Kenyan wilderness. With our partner, Beyond the Ultimate and alongside Save the Rhino International, we created this event to raise awareness and vital funds for rangers and the wildlife they protect. Net funds raised through the ForRangers Ultra, including registration fees and participant fundraising, are shared between ForRangers (65%) and Save the Rhino International (35%).
